How Much Does a Home Inspection Cost? What Changes the Price

Home inspection prices are not the same everywhere or for every house. Instead of quoting figures that go out of date, this guide explains what moves the price, so you can compare inspectors fairly.

What changes the price

What a lower price might mean

A very low price can mean a shorter inspection, a thinner report, or an inspector who is not carrying insurance. Ask what is included before you compare on price alone.

Questions to ask before you book

  1. Are you licensed by the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC), and what is your license number?
  2. Do you carry errors and omissions (E&O) insurance?
  3. What is included, and what is an extra?
  4. How long will the inspection take, and when will I receive the written report?
  5. Can I attend, and can I see a sample report?
  6. Do you offer a re-inspection after repairs?

Get the most from the inspection

An inspection is a visual assessment of the home on the day, not a guarantee. See home inspection with licensed Texas inspectors.
